Dentures & Partial Dentures

A denture is a removable dental appliance and a replacement for missing teeth and surrounding tissue.  They are made to closely resemble your natural teeth and may even enhance your smile.

There are two types of dentures - complete and partial dentures.  Complete dentures are used when all of the teeth are missing, while partial dentures are used when some natural teeth remain.  A partial denture not only fills in the spaces created by missing teeth, it prevents other teeth from shifting.

A complete denture can be either “immediate” or “conventional.”  Immediate dentures are placed immediately after the teeth are removed, thus preventing the patient from having to be without teeth during the healing process.  A conventional type is made after the teeth have been removed and the gum tissue has healed for some time.  Most people prefer that their initial denture be an immediate denture.   Replacement dentures are conventional dentures.  At Dentures Plus Implant and Dental Center we craft same day immediate dentures and conventional dentures.

Dentures are very durable appliances and will last many years, but may need to be readjusted or repaired due to normal wear.

Reasons for dentures:

  • Complete Denture - Loss of all teeth in an arch.
  • Partial Denture - Loss of several teeth in an arch.
  • Enhancing smile and facial tissues.
  • Improving chewing, speech, and digestion, compared to being edentulous.

What does getting dentures involve?

Highly accurate impressions (molds) and measurements are taken and used to create your custom denture.  You will “try-in” your dentures as part of the manufacturing process to ensure proper shape, color, and fit.  At delivery we will place and adjust the completed denture, ensuring a natural and comfortable fit.

It is normal to initially experience increased saliva flow, some soreness, and possible speech and chewing difficulty, however this will subside as your muscles and tissues get used to the new dentures.

You will be given care instructions for your new dentures.  Proper cleaning of your new dental appliance, good oral hygiene, and regular dental visits will aid in the life of your new dentures.

At Dentures Plus, each denture is custom made and fitted.  We use superior products, which is why our “Economy” dentures start with a 3-year tooth warranty.  We exclusively use Heraues denture teeth in all of our dentures.  Heraues dental company that provides some of the best quality (durability, esthetics) teeth in the world.  Our dentures are made with a unique process that reduces the distortion in traditional denture processing from 7% (normal) to 1-2%, ensuring a great fit and finish.

We know that there is an adjustment period with every denture.  It may take a few days for you to know if you need us to adjust your denture.  You may find that your denture is pressing on a spot and causing a sore.  Call and make an adjustment appointment.

Even a great fitting denture will need adjustments as your mouth changes over time.  If this is your first denture we will expect to see you at Dentures Plus more often for adjustments.  After teeth are removed, the mouth tissues shrink and heal so that denture adjustments will be needed.  This may involve adjustments or relining of the denture fitting surface.  We encourage our patients to come in so that our in-house lab and staff can optimize the denture fit.  The Immediate Denture Care Package is included in the price of all immediate dentures.  This means that  at Dentures Plus you will not be charged additional fees for the adjustments and soft liners needed in your first year of wearing dentures.
